SALT LAKE CITY — MoviePass hasn't had the greatest week. Customers were outraged with MoviePass last week after the app stopped working ahead of the release of "Mission: Impossible - Fallout." They shared their anger on Twitter, inspiring a slew of memes and jokes about the MoviePass service. The app shut down because Helios & Matheson Analytics, the parent company of MoviePass, ran out of money . They borrowed a cool $5 million to keep MoviePass afloat . And even though that money has been repaid, questions remain about what will happen to MoviePass. The company raised its prices to $14.95 per month and limited customers from seeing blockbuster films in order to make ends meet. If you canceled your MoviePass subscription, worry not. SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department has gone viral. On Thursday, the police department shared a video of its officers participating in the lip-sync challenge, an ongoing summer video challenge where police officers and firefighters challenge each other to dance and lip-sync to popular songs. So what did the SLCPD do? Well, they lip-synced along to Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball." But instead of riding a wrecking ball and smashing the walls of their past, these cops decided to ride a large tire — transformed into a pink doughnut topped with sprinkles— and smash into a stack of Banbury Cross Donuts. SALT LAKE CITY — The NES Classic has aged well. That's the takeaway from the latest numbers about how well the console is selling. The NES Classic, a smaller reboot of the Nintendo Entertainment System, returned to stores in June after a brief run in 2016, and it's selling really well. In fact, the NES Classic, which sells for $59, outsold the PlayStation 4, Nintendo's Switch and Xbox One in June alone, The Verge reported . The data come from the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales numbers. It is the first time that the NES led in monthly unit sales since the NPD Group started tracking numbers in 1995. The Unicode Consortium , which develops the emojis we all know and love, is deciding whether or not to include a one-piece bathing suit into the modern lexicon, joining the immensely popular yellow-polka-dot bikini, according to The New York Times . "Its point is to offer another, less sexualized, option to users who may not feel that the Barbie-wardrobe two-piece really communicates who they are or what they want to say. NEW YORK — The themes and trappings are familiar for an Ernest Hemingway narrative: Paris, wartime, talk of books and wine and the scars of battle. But the story itself has been little known beyond the scholarly community for decades: "A Room on the Garden Side," written in 1956, is being published for the first time. The brief, World War II-era fiction appears this week in the summer edition of The Strand Magazine, a literary quarterly which has released obscure works by Raymond Chandler, John Steinbeck and others.
